Doughty 500 Dress Code

If your wardrobe isn't quite up to snuff to the demanding standards of the Doughty 500 (floral print camp shirts-the gaudier the better-extra credit if alcoholic beverages are included) I suggest you make a stop at the nearest Kohls. They have quite the selection available at significantly reduced prices. The money you save buying a shirt could be put towards much nobler pursuits. Such as buying me a round.

Kathryn's Poem

Model T's by Kathryn Rose:

Model T's are very old cars.
Cars without windows, seatbelts, or bars.
While you're bump, bump, bumping along,
You can stick your feet out and sing a song.

My family comes from all around,
To ride in these cars that make lots of sound.
The best part of it all is,
Seeing my family and all their kids.

We travel in these cars for five or six days,
And when we get lost it's like a maze.
And when it's all over I'm very sad,
But I think of next year and I'm glad.

Passing The Hat

On the weekend on July 12 and 13th I will be participating, once again, as part of a team in the MS S.U.N. (Skate Up North) 75. The MS75 is a two day seventy five mile inline skate from Hinckley to Duluth, Minnesota to raise funds for the Minnesota Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. It's a good event for a great cause.

Any and all donations are greatly appreciated and are also tax deductible. Simply click on this Paypal button to make a pledge:

If you'd like a receipt for tax purposes just send me an e-mail with your address and I'll shoot one out to you. Upon the successful completion of the seventy five mile skate (and assuming I don't take a header off the trail into the St. Louis River) I'll post a recap of the weekend here and maybe even a pic or two.

Thanks for your support. And please pray for a dry weekend on the 12th and 13th. I know I will.

Progress?

Minneapolis Star Tribune -- Sierra Club challenges Ford on environment:

The Sierra Club is questioning Ford Motor Co.'s environmental record in an ad timed to coincide with the automaker's 100th birthday.

Under the heading, "A Century of Innovation . . . Except At Ford," the ad shows a Model T Ford, which it says got 25 miles per gallon, next to a Ford Explorer, which gets 16 miles per gallon.

"Begin your second century with innovation truly worth celebrating," the Sierra Club says in the ad.

Help Wanted

I'm looking for a couple of other folks who would be interested in posting material here at the Garage from time to time. It's really not a very complicated process and it can be a lot of fun. Drop me a line at rightwinger23@hotmail.com and I'll get you set up.
